Donald Trump's son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Lara, have adopted a stray beagle who was so sick when he first came into a shelter that he had to stay at the vet hospital for a month.
Ben the beagle was brought to the San Antonio Animal Care Services in April 2016, so covered with mange that much of his fur was gone, with his raw, sore, pink skin showing through.

When Ben came to the shelter, he was in pain from mange all over his body, which made his skin pink and sore, his nails were overgrown, and he was sad and dejected

Ben was so sick he spent a month recovering at the Callahan Vet Hospital.
From there, the dog made its lucky way to Eric and Lara Trump, who agreed to foster him. Lara is a big animal lover who often raises money for shelters and advocates on behalf of homeless dogs.

The resilient pup, shortly after joining the Trumps in New York, got a taste of the good life with a walk in Central Park with his soon-to-be furrever brother, Charlie
Husband Eric is also known for hunting big game, and has been vociferously criticized for it.
In August, Lara posted news of her new furbaby on social media.
'It's official: we are foster failures!!! Ben & Charlie are now brothers forever. Welcome to your furever family, Ben! We love you so much!!! Thank you @rescuedogsrocknyc #AdoptDontShop.'

'We've gotten quite a few pictures of him! He's happy and spoiled,' Gerry Leah Zavala, ACS Rescue Foster supervisor, told
Click2Houston. 'And he's got the life we hope for all of our pets.'
Lara and Eric seem quite proud of their new addition, often posting pictures and video of him on social media. Ben has been seen frolicking in front of the couple's mansion in the snow, and enjoying a play on the beach, and sniffing grass in Central Park with beagle brother Charlie.
The pair are expecting their first child, a boy, in September.
