Uh Oh: New Report Says FBI Fraud Probe into Bernie's Wife Has Deepened, Cites Grand Jury Action
And once again, part of the investigation is reportedly examining whether the Senator abused his power and influence to help secure the fraudulent bank loan for the now-defunct college that his wife ran into the ground. In other words, there could be serious trouble afoot for both halves of this left-wing couple, who saw fit to honeymoon in the Soviet Union. Bernie might have zero desire to talk about this mess -- "bank fraud" isn't really a term that aligns particularly well with his man-of-the-people image -- but he may have no choice but to address it more often now that a new report suggests the investigation may have grown more serious:
The federal probe into a 2010 land deal orchestrated by former Burlington College president Jane Sanders, wife of U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., has deepened. VTDigger has confirmed that a grand jury has compelled sworn witness testimony in the case. The Vermont U.S. Attorney’s office has interviewed at least one witness before the grand jury to determine whether indictments should be handed down. Former Burlington College board member Robin Lloyd says she testified for about an hour on Oct. 26 before a grand jury at the federal courthouse in Burlington.
Paul Van de Graaf, chief of the criminal division for the U.S. attorney’s office in Vermont, questioned Lloyd about her role as the development chair of the college’s board of trustees during a period when Sanders was collecting donations and pledges for the purchase of a $10 million city lakefront property. Lloyd, who is publisher of the progressive website Toward Freedom, kept copious board meeting minutes as the development chair for the college. In the interview with Van de Graaf, Lloyd said he “was focused on what I knew about who had been approached for contributions.”...Lloyd’s appearance is the first public confirmation that the federal government has compelled a grand jury.
The RNC highlighted this story in an email blast Monday, linking to a New York Timespiece from last summer that noted how the nature of the brewing scandal risks "tak[ing] some of the luster off of the senator’s populist appeal." I'd speculate it could potentially impact the 2020 Democratic presidential field, but we already know that Oprah already has that puppy all wrapped up. (I kid. Mostly). In any case, all of this nasty bank fraud and abuse-of-power business threatens to sidetrack the Senator's attention from other pressing priorities, such as inflicting a breathtakingly unaffordable and disruptive government healthcare regime upon the American people. In addition to its stunning fiscal recklessness and destruction of 156 million Americans' existing healthcare arrangements, it's also a path to severe bureaucratic rationing. As we're seeing play out in the UK today, the government supremacist system equals worse access, worse outcomes, and government funding crises:
By the way, in case you missed it, Sanders admitted that 91 percent of middle class Americans will get a tax cut under the newly-passed GOP law, which he'd called a "massive attack" on middle income earners. He's insisting that those tax rates be extended permanently. I agree.
