THIS is the chilling moment a car careered through Westminster before mowing down pedestrians and smashing into a barrier at "50mph" in a "terror" rampage.
The dramatic footage shows the silver Ford Fiesta hurtling across lanes outside the Houses of Parliament before ploughing into several cyclists.
The handcuffed driver, in his 20s and believed to be from the Midlands, was led away by armed cops after people were left injured in the "very sinister" smash at around 7.40am.
Witnesses described the terror of seeing the car "driving towards Parliament at speed" before hearing a "loud bang".

One woman suffered serious, but non-life threatening, injuries while two other men also needed medical treatment.
Met Police confirmed the suspect - who is not believed to have been armed - is currently being quizzed on suspicion of terror offences at a South London police station.
But cops said he is "not cooperating" as they try to establish the motive behind the attack.
Assistant Commissioner Neil Basu said in a police press conference: "It appears to be a deliberate act. We are treating it as a terrorist incident.
"At this early stage of the investigation no other suspects at the scene have been identified or reported to police."
Footage shows two police officers being forced to jump out of the road as the car careers towards them before mowing down civilians.
Injured cyclists are then seen being treated by paramedics as bikes lay strewn across the road.
Armed police were heard shouting "move back as quick as you can, we're asking you for a reason" as they swarmed through Westminster when the car came to a halt.
Witness Barry Williams earlier said: "It did look like an attack... Once he hit the cyclists he accelerated towards the barrier."
Eyewitness Jason Williams added: "He went into the bollard at high speed, about 40 or 50mph.
"It was, in my opinion, something planned and something very sinister."
Another witness said: “I saw a silver car heading towards cyclists on the wrong side of the road.
“He hit them then swerved over towards the safety barrier and then accelerated and hit it at quite high speed.
“The car actually came off the ground and landed again.

“He hit about five cyclists. One actually got up and began to chase the car.
“It was frightening."
Elma Refuerzo, 57, a house keeper in Parliament, told the Sun Online: "The driver was pulled out of the car by police.
"Police aimed rifles at the car. He was inside the car. I heard a noise - police were shouting ‘stay there, stay there’."
Pedestrian Ewalina Ochab said: "I think the crash looked intentional - the car drove at speed and towards the barriers.
"I heard some noise and someone screamed."
Bus driver Victor Ogbomo, 49, was driving passengers past the front of Westminster when he saw the crash.
"All I saw was the smoke coming out of a vehicle, a silver vehicle ... I just stopped the bus," he said.
"The police said we have to move back, then in less than five minutes the response team came."

Jason Williams told ITV's Good Morning Britain that the incident was "very, very scary".
He said: "I’ve seen a man driving a vehicle, and he's gone into one of the bollards. There was a loud bang.
"Straight away I thought 'Oh no, this is another terrorist attack'. So I’ve just started to run and the police were saying 'get out, get out of the area'.

The incident comes just over a year after terrorist Khalid Masood drove into pedestrians and rammed the gates of Parliament in a terror attack.
The jihadi killed five people including Westminster cop PC Keith Palmer before he was shot dead by armed police.
Security expert Chris Phillips said today's could be a botched terror attack.
He told GMB: "I think one of the biggest issues for police officers when they approached the vehicle was could it explode.
"This could well be some form of an attack that’s not quite worked properly for the attacker. "

Streets around Parliament Square, Millbank and Victoria Tower Gardens have been cordoned off with dozens of police, ambulances and firefighters at the scene.
Westminster Bridge has been closed to cars and pedestrians and nearby Lambeth Bridge is also to be shut imminently.
Theresa May has praised medics and police for responding to the attack.
The PM tweeted: "My thoughts are with those injured in the incident in Westminster and my thanks to the emergency services for their immediate and courageous response."
Number 10 said there would be a COBRA meeting later today to discuss the attack on Westminster.
