At least 25 people in Chicago have been shot, two of them fatally, since Friday evening.
Five people were shot Friday after 5 p.m., 16 people on Saturday and four people so far on Sunday.
A 35-year-old man was killed late Saturday in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side.
At 11:55 p.m., Corey McClinton was driving a vehicle in the 100 block of North Kedzie when someone shot him multiple times, according to Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. One bullet struck his abdomen, two lodged in his side and one hit his arm.
McClinton crashed into a light pole and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he died, authorities said. He lived in the Austin neighborhood.Another man was killed outside of a club early Saturday in the West Englewood neighborhood on the South Side. A 32-year-old man was shot after walking out of a club about 4:35 a.m. in the 2000 block of West 63rd Street, according to police.
Two bullets struck his abdomen and one hit his left leg. He was taken in critical condition to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said. The medical examiner’s office did not immediately release his identity.
In nonfatal shootings, a teenage man was critically wounded during a drive-by shooting at night in the Gresham neighborhood on the South Side.
Late Friday, gunfire seriously wounded a 26-year-old man outside of Percy L. Julian High School in the Washington Heights neighborhood on the South Side.
Last weekend, a west suburban man was killed and 23 others were wounded in shootings throughout Chicago.
