Norman Borlaug, RIP

Norman Borlaug was one of the great heroes of the 20th century and far too little known considering his accomplishments. He almost single-handedly led the Green Revolution which brought scientific farming methods to the Third World, dramatically increasing yields and preventing the starvation caused death and disease among literally hundreds of millions. Amazingly he is considered a villain by some of the human-hating, zero-population growth eco-nuts, for essentially preventing the deaths of millions.

From the NYT:

Norman E. Borlaug, the plant scientist who did more than anyone else in the 20th century to teach the world to feed itself and whose work was credited with saving hundreds of millions of lives, died Saturday night. He was 95 and lived in Dallas.
