Chicago teachers union boss doubles-down on accusation GOP gov. is 'ISIS recruit'

Karen Lewis, president of the Chicago Teachers Union, called Gov.
Bruce Rauner, R-Ill., an Islamic State recruit on Wednesday. On Thursday, she doubled-down on that accusation, tweeting, "For all of you who are offended by the use of the term ISIS, please Google the FBI criteria for domestic terrorism. Then get back to me."
For the record, the FBI website says "'Domestic terrorism' means activities with the following three characteristics:
Involve acts dangerous to human life that violate federal or state law;
Appear intended (i) to intimidate or coerce a civilian population; (ii) to influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion; or (iii) to affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction, assassination. or kidnapping;
and
Occur primarily within the territorial jurisdiction of the U.S."
Wednesday, Lewis said, "Rauner is the new ISIS recruit. Yes, I said it, and I'll say it again. Bruce Rauner is a liar. And, you know, I've been reading in the news lately all about these ISIS recruits popping up all over the place — has Homeland Security checked this man out yet? Because the things he's doing look like acts of terror on poor and working-class people."
Rauner's office responded, saying, "This kind of rhetoric has no place in American public discourse and sets a terrible example for our kids."
The American Federation of Teachers did not immediately respond to a Washington Examiner inquiry over whether they would defend or condemn Lewis' "ISIS recruit" comment. The Chicago Teachers Union is an AFT affiliate.
The state legislature is in budget negotiations, with some Democrats calling for a tax on millionaires with revenue going toward education. Such a tax would require a constitutional amendment, however. A House vote failed, with some Democrats opposed, that would have allowed a ballot referendum to decide on the constitutional amendment.
