The poster boy for liberal hypocrisy ignored by national media, but outrages San Francisco
The New York Times buried the story as a one-paragraph Associated Press report on page A21, with the bland dog-bites-man headline, "California: State Senator Accused of Corruption." This even though Yee was suspended, along with two others, from the California state senate in light of the indictment. But back home in San Francisco, the Chronicle’s Peter Hartlaub is having great fun comparing the Senator’s archive of press releases with his actual behavior and picks out the seven most outrageous. My favorite:
CNN, home (also until last week) of Piers Morgan, whom Yee had praised for his anti-gun activism, didn't report the story at all. When prodded by viewers, the network snarked that it doesn't do state senators. Which is odd, because searching the name of my own state senator, Stacey Campfield, turns up a page of results, involving criticisms of him for saying something "extreme". Meanwhile, CNN found time to bash Wisconsin state senator and supporter of Gov. Scott Walker, Randy Hopper over marital problems.
Hartlaub, who is the Chron’s video game critic, also takes aim at Yee’s crusade against violent video games. In addition to outraging Second Amendment fans, Yee has angered the gamers. That is another constituency that the Dems cannot afford to lose.4. Yee and Lieu to Make Major Reforms to Campaign Finance Laws (Dec. 19, 2012)
Excerpt: “Laundering money through nonprofits in an attempt to avoid transparency is fundamentally undemocratic,” said Yee. “Our democracy should not be bought and sold in shady backroom deals. SB 3 will close this loophole and ensure that Californians are well aware of who is funding campaigns and ballot measures.”
Analysis: “Our democracy should not be bought and sold in shady backroom deals.” If Yee is indeed convicted of any of the accused crimes, or accepts a plea deal, part of his sentence should be writing those 12 words on the prison blackboard at least 20,000 times.
Outlets like CNN which ignore this embarrassment to liberals do so at their peril.
