The Justice Department announced on Friday that Mount Sinai Health System, one of New York’s largest hospital systems, agreed to stop providing puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and gender surgeries to minors. It now must pay a monetary penalty and dedicate $2 million in free medical care to those suffering harmful consequences from those interventions.
“The Department of Justice is committed to holding accountable medical providers that violate federal law and endanger children through so-called gender-affirming care,” Attorney General Todd Blanche said in a press release on the settlement. “This agreement puts an end to these practices at Mount Sinai and provides meaningful relief for individuals who have already suffered harm.”
While the Justice Department did not reveal the size of the monetary penalty, it emphasized Mount Sinai’s “multimillion-dollar commitment to detransition care.” More Americans who underwent pediatric gender interventions have publicly rejected transgender identities and are speaking out about the harm they suffered.
The announcement follows similar settlements involving Texas Children’s Hospital, the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, and Connecticut Children’s Hospital. The Justice Department credited Mount Sinai with remaining “cooperative, proactive, and solution-driven.”
The settlement marks one of the highest-profile victories in the Trump administration’s campaign against pediatric gender interventions and the first publicly announced settlement involving a major New York hospital system.
Pediatric gender interventions have faced setbacks recently. At least one detransitioner won a $2 million judgment in a medical malpractice suit. A Department of Health and Human Services study found little evidence of positive impacts from sex-rejecting procedures, while other studies show they can cause harm, from increased cancer risks to a higher risk of suicidal thoughts.
“A growing number of hospitals, like Mount Sinai, have recognized the medical scandal of sex-rejecting procedures,” Assistant Attorney General Brett Shumate, who heads the Justice Department’s Civil Division, said about the news. “While we are grateful when we secure resolutions to end this discredited practice and protect children, we must not and will not rest in our pursuit of justice for the victims it has left behind.”
Ryan Raybould, U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Texas, pledged that the Justice Department will “continue to use all of our civil and criminal tools to hold these actors and entities accountable when they violate federal law when providing this so-called care.” Raybould’s office assisted with the investigation.
The Justice Department opened a nationwide investigation into the child gender-transition industry in response to President Donald Trump’s order “Protecting Children from Chemical and Surgical Mutilation.” The investigation examines potential violations of the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, the False Claims Act, and other federal health care laws, including fraudulent billing practices such as the use of false diagnosis codes to obtain payment from federal health care programs and private insurers.
Getting the focus back on educating children instead of leftist indoctrination
Revoking NEA’s charter is a good step toward holding teachers’ unions accountable for failing kids
A key US senator wants fellow lawmakers to consider revoking the National Education Association’s congressional charter.
What’s to consider? The union, the nation’s largest representing teachers, clearly hasn’t met its obligations under the charter; Congress should revoke it pronto.
Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-La.), who chairs the Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions, is urging colleagues to reconsider the NEA’s charter specifically over its links to a number of far-left nonprofits, including the Zinn Education Project and Rethinking Schools, and its alleged out-of-control financial mismanagement.
Those and other NEA-linked groups push agendas that actually justify the terrorism and murders committed by the Black Panther Party and push for indoctrinating young kids with gender extremism.
“Children are struggling to read and to do basic math. Instead of helping students succeed, teachers’ unions are injecting a dangerous, anti-American agenda into our classrooms,” fumes Cassidy.
“Parents deserve to send their children to school without worrying that they will be indoctrinated with DEI and taught that Americans have ‘misplaced faith’ in our institutions.”
A charter revocation wouldn’t stop the NEA from operating, but it would deliver a severe reputational blow to the group.
It’s one that’s long overdue —- and not only because the union has focused on hard-left politics instead of history, geography, math and science.
In fact, the NEA, along with the American Federation of Teachers, has presided over a decades-long effort to completely wreck any meaningful standards in education in order to shield their millions of members from any accountability.
At the same time, they fought for ever fatter paychecks and pensions, while spending millions in union dues on radical-left political causes. After the 2020 George Floyd riots, both the NEA and the AFT ratcheted up their leftist activism and fought to turn America’s classrooms into BLM-indoctrination factories.
Never mind reading and math, kids were taught that America is evil, brainwashed with antisemitic tropes about Israel and shown pornography as part of their sex and “gender” education; some educators even sought to socially transition kids without parental knowledge or consent.
The results are tragic: an increasingly illiterate and innumerate nation, with the damage concentrated among the most vulnerable kids.
In New York, almost 30% of fourth-graders score below basic on the National Assessment of Educational Progress’ mathematics test, while 41% are below on reading — about where the depressing national numbers are.
The NEA’s charter, dating from 1906, requires union to “elevate the character and advance the interests of the profession of teaching; and to promote the cause of education in the United States.”
For decades, all evidence shows the unions have done precisely the opposite.
Though the AFT has no congressional charter, in July, the House Committee on Education and the Workforce began probing allegations that its boss, Randi Weingarten, spent the union’s dues to write and promote a controversial, lefty-slanted book.
Congress must now take on the NEA as well — at the very least, revoking its charter, a small first step toward making sure our kids are actually learning in school.

Six years ago, Democrats enjoyed an advantage of roughly 87,000 active registered voters and treated the Silver State like a permanent blue stronghold.
Today, Democrats are hanging onto a statewide lead of just 672 voters.
New figures released by Democrat Secretary of State Francisco “Cisco” Aguilar show Nevada’s active voter rolls dropped 50,130 in August alone after routine list maintenance.
Nevada now has 2,062,136 active registered voters:
- 796,805 are Nonpartisan (38.64%);
- 569,337 are Democrats (27.61%);
- 568,665 are Republicans (27.58%);
- 82,903 are members of the Independent American Party (4.02%);
- 13,620 are members of the Libertarian Party of Nevada (0.66%); and
- 30,806 are members of other minor political parties (1.49%).
Of the 426,577 inactive registered voters in Nevada:
- 196,289 are Nonpartisan (46.01%);
- 105,481 are Democrats (24.73%);
- 91,185 are Republicans (21.38%);
- 19,770 are members of the Independent American Party (4.63%);
- 4,416 are members of the Libertarian Party of Nevada (1.04%); and
- 9,436 are members of other minor political parties (2.21%).
Democrats now hold just 569,337 active registrations to Republicans’ 568,665, a microscopic lead of 672 names. That is two-hundredths of one percent.Nonpartisan voters remain the largest political bloc in Nevada, representing 38.64 percent of the active electorate.
The August decline reportedly resulted largely from routine voter-list maintenance conducted before the National Voter Registration Act’s 90-day pre-election quiet period.
But the latest reduction follows an even larger cleanup conducted across Nevada’s 17 counties.
From January 1, 2025, through January 7, 2026, county election officials canceled 176,928 voter registrations and placed another 138,367 registrations on inactive status.
That amounts to 315,295 registration-status changes in just over one year.
Combined with the latest 50,130-voter decline in active registrations, the two rounds represent approximately 365,000 registration changes or reductions—nearly 400,000.
For accuracy, voters designated inactive have not been permanently removed and remain eligible to vote. However, they will no longer automatically receive mail-in ballots.
Under federal law, inactive registrations may eventually be canceled if the voter fails to respond to an address-confirmation notice and does not vote in two consecutive federal general elections.
Still, the political ramifications are enormous.
Nevada Democrats’ once-formidable registration firewall has been obliterated.
As The Gateway Pundit previously reported, Democrats held a 96,875-voter registration advantage in December 2020.
By April 2024, that lead had already fallen to 55,116.
The collapse continued through the 2024 election, when President Donald Trump shattered the Democrat Party’s grip on the Silver State and defeated Kamala Harris by 46,008 votes.
Trump received 751,205 votes, compared with 705,197 for Harris, becoming the first Republican presidential nominee to carry Nevada since George W. Bush in 2004.
Now, less than two years later, Democrats’ active-registration advantage has dwindled to almost nothing.This did not happen overnight.
Back in 2022, The Gateway Pundit reported that Republicans had narrowed the Democrat advantage in Nevada by 3,395 registrations in just one month.
In September 2024, The Gateway Pundit also reported that Democrats were suffering significant registration losses nationwide while Republicans and independent voters gained ground.
Nevada was one of the clearest warning signs.
The Gateway Pundit later reported that Aguilar’s office launched investigations into potential election-law violations following the 2024 election, including approximately 180 allegations involving possible double voting.
The same office previously came under fire after a voter-history “glitch” caused some Nevadans’ unreturned presidential-primary ballots to appear as counted in the state’s online system. Officials insisted the problem did not affect the election results.
