A member of President Barack Obama’s cabinet took to Twitter Monday to criticize President-elect Donald Trump, while alluding to Democrats charging back in the 2018 midterms to retake at least one chamber of Congress.
Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julian Castro took to Twitter late Monday to label Trump as “corrupt” while saying the president-elect is “lucky” Democrats don’t control at least one chamber of Congress, because if they did, Democrats would prevent Trump and his Republican government from appropriately governing.
“Trump is so corrupt that if Democrats controlled even one chamber of Congress, he’d be done before he even got started,” Castro tweeted with the hashtag “#2018,” alluding to the 2018 midterms.
But Castro didn’t end there. He went on to write that Trump is the “shadiest, most corrupt guy” to ever assume the White House.
“So Trump– the shadiest, most corrupt guy to take the Oval Office, will have no strong federal checks and balances. Has to change,” Castro wrote, again adding the hashtag “#2018.”
Castro, however, never went on to provide any evidence to back his claims that Trump is “corrupt.” And it’s almost as if he forgets that Bill and Hillary Clinton — who are thought to be two of the most corrupt politicians in post-modern politics — are members of his party: the Democratic Party.
Still, throughout Trump’s campaign to be president and since being elected last month, he has pledged to “drain the swamp,” which is a reference to cleaning up a corrupt and self-serving Washington.
So far, most of Trump’s cabinet and high-level government nominees haven’t been career politicians, but they are longtime Washington insiders, something Trump’s critics have been outspoken over.
