Nancy Pelosi says Trump denies the ‘spark of divinity’ with insult to MS-13 gang members

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) scolded Trump for denying the “spark of divinity” in each person over his comments that MS-13 gang members were not people but “animals.”

Here’s what she said 

“It reminds me that and I was talking about the religious groups and how they’re concerned about feeding the hungry and the Gospel of Matthew and the rest,” she told the media at a briefing Thursday, “41 million people in our country are food insecure.” 

“We believe, some of us that are attracted to the political arena,” she explained, “to government and public service that uh we’re all God’s children.”

“There’s a spark of divinity in every person on Earth and that we all have to recognize that as we respect the dignity and worth of every person,” she added, “and as we recognize our responsibilities with that spark of divinity within us.” 

“And so when the president of the United States says about undocumented immigrants, ‘these aren’t people, these are animals,’ you have to wonder does he not believe in the spark of divinity?” she asked. “The dignity and worth of every person?”

“These aren’t people, these are animals,” she repeatedly solemnly. “The president of the united States.”

“Every day that you think you’ve seen it all,” Pelosi continued, “along comes another manifestation of why their policies are so inhumane and why we have to continue the debate, striving for bipartisanship, with openness about what is at stake and what the choices are, and to be unifying in every way possible.” 

“Calling people animals is not a good thing,” she concluded.

Pelosi continued the narrative perpetuated by the media that Trump was speaking about all illegal immigrants in general when he was in fact, speaking about the dangerous gang MS-13. He later clarified that he was talking about the dangerous gang not all illegal immigrants. 

This writer’s perspective

It is remarkable, but not surprising, that not one member of the press corrected Pelosi for continuing a false narrative that had already begun to unravel through many mainstream media corrections. It is also remarkable, but not surprising, that no one asked the pro-abortion politician if she similarly respected the spark of divinity in the millions of unborn children that are aborted.

John Legend Blames America For MS-13

Musician John Legend attacked President Donald Trump Thursday for referring to violent MS-13 gang members as “animals,” saying that it is “much more honest and challenging to realize they were all babies once.”
Reflecting on the news of the day from the hospital with his newborn son, Legend argued that heinous actions did not change the fact that even the worst offenders MS-13 had to offer were still human. (RELATED: John Legend Makes Racist Claims Against Trump Following Leaked ‘S***hole’ Comment)

Legend challenged others to consider what drove gang members to violence rather than simply condemning them.

He went on to blame the United States, suggesting that American policy was in some way responsible for the rise of MS-13.

Legend’s concluded that even allowing the most brutal gang members to be called “animals” would open the door for those who wanted to further oppress them and others.

Legend has apparently reversed his position on “dehumanizing large groups of people” since September of 2017, when the performer held a casting call for “out of shape” white actors to play Trump supporters in a video.
