Two Chinese nationals have been caught fighting for Russia in Moscow's war against Ukraine, Kyiv says.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Tuesday said Kyiv's troops had captured two Chinese citizens fighting alongside Russian forces.

"Our military captured two Chinese citizens who fought in the Russian army. This happened on the territory of Ukraine — in the Donetsk region. We have the documents of these prisoners, bank cards, and personal data," Zelenskyy said in a post on social media.

China has presented itself as a neutral party in Russia's war against its neighbor. Unlike the United Statesand other Western nations, Beijing says it is not sending lethal assistance to either side.
