Disastrous Charlotte Dem Mayor Abruptly Resigns
The embarrassingly awful Democrat mayor of Charlotte, N.C., has abruptly announced she is resigning halfway through her term. The move raises speculation as to why. After all, up until now, none of her failures or potentially illegal actions have embarrassed her to the point of resignation"Serving as Charlotte's mayor has been the honor of my life," Lyle announced on Thursday, reports WCNC Charlotte. "Now, it is time for the next phase of my life, to spend more time with my grandchildren and for someone new to lead us forward."
Perhaps Lyles’s most shameful moment was her reaction to the murder of young Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska on the Charlotte Area Transit System subway. Serial criminal Decarlos Brown randomly stabbed Iryna to death and then, based on surveillance footage, gloated to himself repeatedly, “Got the white girl.” Lyles did not even mention Iryna‘s name in her statement after the murder, nor did she condemn the brutal crime. Instead, she fixated on building up a sob story over the murderer.
The Democrat mayor solemnly warned against demonizing the homeless, as if Brown’s long series of crimes culminating in deadly butchery were due to people making critical comments about homelessness. “We will never arrest our way out of issues such as homelessness and mental health,” Lyles lectured. “Mental health disease is just that — a disease like any other that needs to be treated with the same compassion, diligence, and commitment as cancer or heart disease.” Lyles even specifically thanked the press who had not shared footage of the murder, quite possibly because of the racial element.
Lyles certainly favors criminals, especially illegal aliens. For example, there's the following story from ICE in January:
ICE announced the arrest of Julio Cesar Xocop-Vicente, a criminal illegal alien from Guatemala who killed Amber Paris, a 15-year-old girl and American citizen after running a stop sign while speeding and striking her with his vehicle...While Xocop-Vicente was arrested by local law enforcement the next day and charged with driving without a license, reckless driving, and felony hit-and-run, the soft-on-crime and pro-illegal criminal illegal alien policies of Charlotte, North Carolina mayor Vi Lyles and other politicians allowed him walk free on bond before ICE could file an immigration detainer. Worse, local authorities then dismissed his driving without a license charge on December 2, 2025, while Paris was still fighting for her life.
This is also the second time that Mayor Lyles’ Charlotte has allowed this criminal illegal alien to walk free and avoid deportation after an arrest.
And that's just a single example of how Lyles's sanctuary policies cost lives. Lyles demonized ICE and other immigration officers, contributing to an avalanche of death threats against and assaults on officers.
