Hot Takes: Abdul El-Sayed Leveled After 'Vile' Campaign Tweet on Charlie Kirk Amid Preliminary Hearing
That was also the case in the aftermath of the September 2025 assassination of Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk, 31, during an event at Utah Valley University. After the news broke, we saw radical leftists, including educators, medical professionals, and elected officials, openly and unapologetically express glee over the conservative icon's murder, with some even suggesting that Kirk's killing shouldn't be the last.
Here we are, some ten months later, and the preliminary hearing is underway in a Provo, Utah courtroom for his accused assassin, Tyler Robinson. As RedState reported earlier, Kirk's wife, Erika, has been in attendance alongside other family members, facing Robinson for the first time in an incredible show of strength and resilience, knowing there would be things said that would be deeply painful to hear.

Now, we know that most leftists despised Charlie Kirk when he was still alive, and that obviously didn't change after he was killed. But one would think that with the preliminary hearing now in progress and the judge having to view some gruesome footage, maybe a little grace could be extended to the Kirk family this week.
But that's not how pro-Hamas, anti-American Michigan Democrat Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed's campaign saw it, as evidenced by this tweet sent out bashing his opponent, Democrat Rep. Haley Stevens (MI-11), for having the decency to support the congressional resolution honoring Charlie Kirk's legacy and condemning his assassination:
Understandably, this did not go over well with folks, some of whom had some inconvenient reminders for El-Sayed:
