How Planned Parenthood accommodates child rape....
The state of Kansas has sanctioned a doctor who failed to follow state law after performing an abortion on a young teenager.
State officials say Dr. Allen S. Palmer, a former contractor for Planned Parenthood, violated state law when he failed to preserve fetal tissue samples after performing an abortion on a 13-year-old girl in December 2014.
Kansas requires that fetal tissue samples be preserved and sent to a state laboratory approved by the Kansas Bureau of Investigations any time an abortion is performed on someone younger than 14, according to the Washington Post. That’s because Kansas considers sex with anyone under 14 to be rape.
If key forensic evidence of a crime isn’t preserved, it could hinder future prosecution.
The Kansas State Board of Healing Arts chose to suspend Palmer’s medical license for 90 days. The suspension affects the St. Louis-area doctor’s ability to practice medicine in Kansas, but not elsewhere.
Palmer admitted during a hearing that he didn’t know the patient’s age when he performed the abortion because he relied on Planned Parenthood’s staff to inform him. But the board said Palmer was responsible for adequately reading the patient’s medical file before performing the procedure. Had he done so, he would have realized the girl’s age.
“The potential injury from this violation is severe in that a failure to preserve and submit fetal tissue may hinder a criminal prosecution,” the board said.
Palmer’s medical license will be reinstated on Dec. 7.
