New military weapons

Army of the FUTURE: US Marines train with prototype DRONE-KILLER lasers

US MARINES have been training with futuristic weapons looking like something straight out of a sci-fi film, including drone-killer lasers, unmanned trucks, and electric jeeps.

Pictures show the incredible war drill resembling something out of Call of Duty: Black Ops as soldiers test out the US Military’s most advanced new weaponry.
Some 180 US Marines loaded up with sci-fi style gear in the exercise at Camp Pendleton in California.
The drill was designed to test the troops skill with the new weapons, and how they could handle battles in urban areas.
Focus was placed on the soldiers ability to blast drones out of the skies using jammers and lasers.
Captain Ben Brewster said he hoped the new gear would allow his marines to have a “protective bubble” to prove them from unmanned weapons.
“I need the ability for my marines to be able to jam these drones”

Images showed marines armed with weapons labelled Dronekiller which looked like laser cannons from science fiction.
The troopers were armed with their standard assault rifles along with the bulky green cannons which is designed to “disable drones within seconds” – according to the manufacturer IXI.
Other soldiers mounted up in an electric powered 4x4 buggy as they hurtled across the rugged terrain – complete with a machine gun mounted to the roll bar.
And alongside them was an drone transport pod in six-wheels, designed to provide the grunt work and carry the soldiers gear into battle.

Other marines were given video-game style “head-up display” systems attached to their helmets and placed over their eyes.
The tiny screens allow the troops to get live readouts of tactical data as they work in the warzone.
New night vision goggles were also tested by the marines, along with new helmets that protect their entire heads and faces.
Captain Brewster said: "“I’ve never had to deal with IEDs that can attack me from quadcopter.
"Anyone of these could have a two-pound IED or act as a spotter or command-and-control for an enemy force.

ISIS terrorists have been know to be using drones more and more as they battle the US and local forces in the Middle East.

Brigadier General Christian Wortman said the “ultimate test is how it performs on the battlefield” – adding he is awaiting feedback from the marines.
Militaries around the world are ploughing billions into developing new tech, especially unmanned vehicles and methods to counter them.
Russia unveiled a drone tank this year, with Putin’s military boasting they are leading the world in unmanned tech.
Daily Star Online revealed AI controlled soldiers are believed to be the next milestone in war technology.
