Religious freedom under attack...
What happened?
A condominium in Port Charlotte, Florida has a common area used by groups for movie nights, game nights and other activities. Donna Dunbar, a resident at Cambridge House Condominiums, says the condo HOA has banned her Bible study group from using the space, FOX4 reported.
Tell me more:
Dunbar’s nine-person study group has been meeting each week for nearly a year. In February, the HOA board said the group was no longer approved to use the space and adopted a resolution banning “prayers and other religious services, observations, or meetings of any nature” from the condo’s common spaces.
Can they do that?
With the help of First Liberty Institute, Dunbar is bringing a federal complaint against the HOA with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The nonprofit legal organization says she has a case for discrimination.
Jeremy Dys, deputy general counsel for First Liberty, joined Doc and Kris in the studio today to share Dunbar’s story along with many other examples of religious freedom being violated.
