Gowdy: Harry Reid’s Attack on Comey Is ‘Laughable’

BY: Charlie Hoffmann
October 31, 2016 11:42 am
Rep. Trey Gowdy (R., S.C.) on Monday described Sen. Harry Reid’s allegation that FBI Director James Comey violated the Hatch Act as “laughable.”
Gowdy appeared on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, and co–host Mika Brzezinski read a the letter penned by Reid. The Nevada lawmaker released a letter on Sunday in which he stated that he believes Comey violated the Hatch Act by announcing Friday that the FBI would be reopening its investigation into Clinton’s use of a private email server.
The Hatch Act prevents federal government employees from directly engaging in political activity. Reid’s letter alleges that Comey made his Friday announcement because he wanted to help the Republicans in the last week of the election.
After Brzezinski read out sections of Reid’s letter, she asked Gowdy for his reaction.
“Just how laughable that is. It was the attorney general who met with the spouse of the target of an investigation on a tarmac,” Gowdy said referencing the meeting between Attorney General Loretta Lynch and Bill Clinton this summer.  “The president himself prejudged the outcome of the investigation and Senator Reid didn’t write a letter to either of one of them violating the Hatch Act.”
“How Jim Comey supplementing his record before Congress violates the Hatch Act is just laughable,” Gowdy added.
The FBI has not responded to Reid’s letter but the senator received blowback from many other Republicans who found his statement bizarre. Sen. Tom Cotton (R., Ark.) took to Twitter to express his thoughts on Reid’s letter.
Reid’s recent statements about Comey contradict the praise he lavished on the FBI director for recommending this summer that the Justice Department bring no charges against Clinton for her private email server use. Back in July, Reid stated, “No one can question the integrity, the competence” of Comey.

MAIDUGURI, Nigeria — The governor of the Nigerian state most devastated by Boko Haram’s Islamic uprising is accusing some U.N. and international aid agencies of misusing funds meant for refugees.

Borno Gov. Kashim Shettima claims the UN has spent $50 million on unnecessary bulletproof cars. The U.N. Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs says the vehicles were provided by donors, not funds for refugees.
Shettima says the presence of 500 U.N. workers and expenditure of $334 million in Borno is “questionable” for its lack of impact.
He says Nigeria is not getting needed international support and warns that if the country with its nearly 200 million people implodes, it could spark a dire migration crisis.
He made no mention of allegations that Nigerian agencies are stealing food meant for starving refugees.

Judges reject challenge to 'joint enterprise' convictions

Judges have refused to overturn guilty verdicts against 13 men convicted using the law of "joint enterprise".
The test cases were brought after the Supreme Court ruled the controversial law had been interpreted wrongly for more than 30 years.
It has allowed people to be convicted of murder even if they did not inflict the fatal blow, but "could" have foreseen violent acts by others.
There were shouts of "no justice, no peace" when the new judgement was made.
The Supreme Court said in February it was wrong to treat "foresight" as a sufficient test to convict a defendant under the law and juries had to decide on the "whole evidence".
But in his judgement, Lord Neuberger said the decision did not automatically mean all previous joint enterprise convictions were unsafe.
What is the controversial 'joint enterprise' law?
A moment of genuine legal history
Murder ruling 'brings heartache'
The men bringing the test cases at the Court of Appeal were convicted in relation to six separate crimes. Twelve were found guilty of murder and one of wounding with intent and possessing a bladed article.
Among them were Tyler Burton and Nicholas Terrelonge, who were found guilty of murdering Ashley Latty in a group attack in Dagenham, east London, in May 2014.
Rejecting their appeal, Lord Chief Justice Lord Thomas said the Supreme Court judgement would "not have made a difference" to the jury's verdict in the trial and the convictions "were and are safe".
An appeal was also brought on behalf of Asher Johnson, his brother Lewis and Reece Garwood, who were given life sentences for the murder of Thomas Cudjoe in Ilford, east London, in November 2012.
A fourth convicted man, Jerome Green, was seen in CCTV footage holding a knife and apparently stabbing Mr Cudjoe as he sat in the driver's seat of a car in a garage forecourt.
Lawyers argued there was no evidence of common enterprise between his clients and Green and the images did not show they had been involved in a planned attack.

Rejecting the appeal, Lord Thomas said the verdicts would have been "no different" following the Supreme Court ruling.
He said the court was "satisfied that there was no injustice, let alone substantial injustice".
The decision to reject their cases was met with cries of protest by supporters of the men sitting in the public gallery at the Court of Appeal.

The test cases

  • Tyler Burton and Nicholas Terrelonge, who received life sentences for the murder of Ashley Latty
  • Asher Johnson, his brother Lewis, Reece Garwood and Jerome Green, who were given life sentences for the murder of Thomas Cudjoe
  • John Hore, who received a life sentence for the murder of Anthony Duffy in May 2014
  • Javed Miah, Rubel Miah, Mohammed Hussain and Fahim Khan, who were given life sentences for the murder of Isaac Stone in January 2014
  • Michael Hall, who received a life sentence in September 2007 for the murder of Andrew Ayres and violent disorder
  • Queba Moises, who was convicted in February 2016 of wounding Jordan Joseph with intent to do grievous bodily harm and having a bladed article in a public place

The campaign group Joint Enterprise Not Guilty by Association (JENGBA) said families of those convicted under the law had been left in tears by the decision.
Group co-founder Jan Cunliffe said: "Some of the families were very, very distraught and left the court room in tears.
"I'm feeling numb, but we're determined to carry on, we're not going to stop."
She said the group was taking advice about the possibility of challenging the judgement in the Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court ruling applies to England, Wales, Northern Ireland and most UK overseas common law territories but not Scotland, which has its own rules on joint enterprise.
At the time, campaigners said the change would make the law fairer, but some murder victims' relatives said they were worried about possible appeals.

From duelling to gangs

Gary Dobson and David Norris were convicted under joint enterprise of the 1993 murder of Stephen Lawrence
Image captionGary Dobson and David Norris were convicted under joint enterprise of the 1993 murder of Stephen Lawrence
Joint enterprise law was originally used to stop aristocrats from duelling, allowing all those involved in the duel, including doctors, to be charged with murder along with the duellists.
The law is regarded as a vital prosecuting tool and was used to convict David Norris and Gary Dobson in 2012 for the 1993 murder of Stephen Lawrence.
However, in February the Supreme Court ruled that the courts "took a wrong turn" in 1984 in their interpretation of the law.
This judgement referred to a ruling in a case in which three gang members armed with knives burst into the home of a prostitute and her husband in Hong Kong, intending to collect a debt.
The husband was stabbed to death at the hand of at least one of the gang members and all three were convicted of murder.
In February judges said the error made had been "to equate foresight with intent to assist, as a matter of law; the correct approach is to treat it as evidence of intent".

Are we in the new little ice age?

The Next ‘Little Ice Age’ Is Already Here, Russian Scientist Claims
Posted By Michael Bastasch On 8:48 AM 10/31/2016
A new study by a prominent Russian astrophysicist claims the “new Little Ice Age” started at the end of 2015 due to low solar activity, kicking off decades of “deep cooling” in the latter half of the 21st Century.
“As a result, the Earth has, and will continue to have, a negative average annual energy balance and a long-term adverse thermal condition,” Dr. Habibullo Abdussamatov, who is the head of space research for the Pulkovo Observatory at the Russian Academy of Sciences, wrote in a recent study.
[dcquiz] “The quasi-centennial epoch of the new Little Ice Age has started at the end 2015 after the maximum phase of solar cycle 24,” Abdussamatov wrote. “The start of a solar grand minimum is anticipated in solar cycle 27 in 2043 and the beginning of phase of deep cooling in the new Little Ice Age in 2060.”
Abdussamatov’s latest work was translated into English and featured in a new book by geologist Don Easterbrook on evidence opposing the mainstream view that carbon dioxide is the main source of recent global warming.
Abdussamatov argues that declining solar activity will cause a gradual cooling over North America and Europe, which could recreate the conditions experienced during the “Little Ice Age” — cooler periods from Middle Ages to the mid-19th Century that coincided with a lull in sunspots.
“The gradual weakening of the Gulf Stream leads to stronger cooling in the zone of its action in western Europe and the eastern parts of the United States and Canada,” Abdussamatov wrote.
“Quasi-bicentennial cyclic variations of [total solar irradiance] together with successive very important influences of the causal feedback effects are the main fundamental causes of corresponding alterations in climate variation from warming to the Little Ice Age,” he wrote.
Abdussamatov previously predicted declining solar activity would lead to a new “Little Ice Age” in the next 30 years.
For years, some scientists have warned that declining solar activity could bring cooler global temperatures in the coming years, but this view has been contested by many scientists who see greenhouse gases, like CO2, as the primary warming agent.
A 2015 study led by Met Office scientist Sarah Ineson found the overall cooling effect of a “grand solar minimum” would be marginal — only offsetting 0.1 degree Celsius of greenhouse gas warming.
Though regional impacts could be more pronounced, Inseon found. Her study found northern Europe could see 0.4 to 0.8 degrees of cooling if solar activity hits record low levels.
“This research shows that the regional impacts of a grand solar minimum are likely to be larger than the global effect, but it’s still nowhere near big enough to override the expected global warming trend due to man-made change,” Ineson said in a statement.
“This means that even if we were to see a return to levels of solar activity not seen since the Maunder Minimum, our winters would likely still be getting milder overall,” she said.
But sunspot aficionados argue the “pause” in global average temperature since the late 1990s coincides with decreasing solar activity. Most scientists say the “pause” in global warming was caused by ocean oscillation cycles.
“Since 1990, the Sun has been in the declining phase of the quasi-bicentennial variation in total solar irradiance,” Abdussamatov wrote. “The decrease in the portion of TSI absorbed by the Earth since 1990 has remained uncompensated by the Earth’s long-wave radiation into space at the previous high level because of the thermal inertia of the world’s oceans.”

Physician Obamacare Participation Plummets 20 Percent...doctors refuse to be slaves of the government much as the wise people in the faculty lounge of Harvard think they should be!

Physician Obamacare Participation Plummets 20 Percent

Brittany M. Hughes

The number of physicians who say they’re accepting health insurance plans offered on Obamacare’s federal and state marketplaces has plummeted nearly 20 percentage points, creating yet another crack in the president's rapidly buckling health care law.
According to a recent survey by SERMO, a social network for physicians, about 57 percent of doctors said they won’t be taking new patients insured by the plans next year. That’s down about four percentage points from last year, when 61 percent of physicians said the same, Forbes reported Monday.
But a similar survey conducted by the Medical Group Management Association back in 2014 showed that at the time, 76.5 percent of physicians said their practice were accepting insurance plans offered on the state and federal marketplaces.
Based on these two surveys and a little basic math, we find the number of physicians accepting ACA plans has fallen an astounding 19.5 percentage points heading into Obamacare’s fourth enrollment period – a pretty remarkable decline, considering it’s been just three years since the exchanges were first opened.
Nancy Pelosi’s repeated assurances notwithstanding, the shine has clearly worn off the president’s “affordable” health care law for insurance companies as well, who’ve been bailing out of the program in droves for more than a year thanks to plummeting profits. Thanks to this massive scaling-back, many customers who purchase plans through the federal and state exchanges will be left with only one insurer to choose from.
The law doesn’t seem to be faring too well with everyday Americans, either. In fact, the number of Americans who have a high opinion of their health care is also falling six years after the passage of the ACA – a law that was supposed to make health care more accessible, allegedly without sacrificing its quality.
According to a recent poll conducted by Gallup, 76 percent of Americans now rate their overall health care as “good or excellent.” And while that’s still a fairly high number, it’s down significantly from the year before Obama’s Affordable Care Act was passed, when 83 percent said the same. On top of that, as I’ve written before, more Americans say the law has actually hurt their families as opposed to helped them.
And for those covered by Obamacare plans, whose premiums are expected to increase by an average of about 25 percent in just the next year, the higher costs coupled with a decrease in plan choices and physician participation are sure to leave an increasingly souring taste.

Donna Brazile Shared Additional Debate Questions With Clinton Campaign, Identified Her Tipster In the world of Democrats, lie, cheat, steal is a resume enhancer and a guaranteed job in the media

Donna Brazile Shared Additional Debate Questions With Clinton Campaign, Identified Her Tipster
Posted By Chuck Ross On 10:31 AM 10/31/2016 In | No Comments
Donna Brazile, the interim chair of the Democratic National Committee, began providing town hall and debate questions to the Clinton campaign earlier than previously known, emails released by WikiLeaks on Monday show.
The email threads also show that Brazile, a former CNN contributor, revealed to the Clinton campaign the name of the person who provided her with a question that was asked of Clinton at a March 13 town hall co-hosted by CNN and TV One. Brazile also shared a question from a debate hosted by CNN a week earlier.
A March 12 email exchange shows Brazile stating that she received a town hall question from Roland Martin, a TV One host who co-moderated a March 13 town hall with CNN’s Jake Tapper.
A March 5 email shows that she shared a question with Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta and communications director Jennifer Palmieri that was to be asked in a March 6 debate hosted by CNN in Flint, Mich.
Hillary Clinton asked about Flint water crisis at March 6, 2016 CNN debate. (Youtube screen grab)
The emails were hacked from Podesta’s Gmail account.
[dcquiz] When part of the March 12 email was released earlier this month, Brazile initially vehemently denied that she shared a question with the campaign. “What a stretch,” is what she told The Daily Caller when asked about it. (RELATED: Donna Brazile Shared Town Hall Questions With Clinton Campaign)
She has since said that the email may have been doctored by Russian hackers. She also complained that she is being “persecuted” over the matter.
Brazile has recently stopped short of denying that she received the debate question and shared it with the Clinton campaign. But in an interview with PBS’s Tavis Smiley last week, she said that CNN did not provide her the question. Notably, she did not deny that Martin gave it to her. Martin has given waffling answers on whether he shared the question with Brazile. (RELATED: Donna Brazile Claims She’s Being ‘Persecuted’ Over Leaks To Clinton Campaign)
In the March 12 exchange, Brazile mentions Martin by name and offers to provide more than just the one town hall question that she is known to have shared with the campaign.
“I’ll send a few more. Though some questions Roland submitted,” Brazile wrote to Palmieri in the March 12 email thread, which is entitled “From time to time I get the questions in advance.”
The question she provided to Palmieri matched verbatim a question that an exonerated death row inmate asked Clinton the next night.
CNN and host Jake Tapper have strongly denied sharing that question or any other with Brazile or anyone else.
But an email released on Monday casts new doubt on the network’s claims that it never shares questions with outsiders.
On March 5, Brazile tipped the Clinton team off to a question that was to be asked the next day at a debate that was hosted by CNN’s Don Lemon and Anderson Cooper.
“One of the questions directed to HRC tomorrow is from a woman with a rash,” Brazile wrote to Podesta and Palmieri.
“Her family has lead poison and she will ask what, if anything, will Hillary do as president to help the ppl of Flint.”
March 12 email from Donna Brazile (via WikiLeaks)
A transcript of the debate shows that a woman named Lee-Anne Walters did ask the question of both Clinton and Sanders.
“After my family, the city of Flint and the children in D.C. were poisoned by lead, will you make a personal promise to me right now that, as president, in your first 100 days in office, you will make it a requirement that all public water systems must remove all lead service lines throughout the entire United States, and notification made to the – the citizens that have said service lines,” the woman asked. (RELATED: Jake Tapper Says DNC Chair’s Town Hall Leak Is ‘Very, Very Troubling’)
Brazile, who claimed during the Democratic primaries that she was neutral, has defended herself during the email controversy by claiming that she was in regular communication with all Democratic candidates. But there has been no evidence produced so far that she shared debate and town hall questions with Sanders.
TheDC reached out to CNN for comment but did not hear back by press time. Brazile also did not return a request for comment.

Venezuela: Another failed Castro revolution.

Venezuela’s crisis comes to a head in the streets

An increasingly radicalised opposition calls march on Presidential Palace
Venezuela’s political crisis comes to a head this week in a mass march on the Presidential Palace that raises the risk of a crackdown.Thursday’s march is being mounted by an increasingly radicalised opposition, which is enraged by Venezuela’s deteriorating economy and the suspension of a constitutionally allowed referendum that sought to remove President Nicolás Maduro from office. The demonstration will be fiercely resisted by government supporters.
In 2002, public protests outside the Miraflores Presidential Palace escalated into a brief coup.
“It is a game of chicken. Will there be a crash, or will one side swerve out of the way first?” said Felipe Pérez, a former minister who sides with the opposition.
The march, which follows opposition-led mass protests and a general strike last week, is slated to take place even as Vatican-mediated talks between the government and the opposition Democratic Unity coalition (MUD) began on Sunday.
The talks, attended also by former Spanish premier José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, seek to ease the political stand-off and staunch an economic and social crisis that has led to spiralling violence, triple digit inflation and shortages of basic goods.
“Venezuela is being Somalia-ised,” said Mr Pérez, who served as planning minister under deceased former president Hugo Chávez.
Despite the world’s largest oil reserves, Venezuela is mired in a prolonged recession that the IMF forecasts will see the economy shrink 10 per cent this year. It also continues to flirt with default on almost $100bn of international debt.
The crisis, which has turned one of the region’s richest economies into one of the poorest, dominated discussions at the Ibero-American summit on Saturday.
“I think there was a very clear consensus that there is not a solution to Venezuela’s problems … without constructive dialogue,” said António Guterres, the United Nations’ secretary-general elect.
It is a game of chicken. Will there be a crash, or will one side swerve out of the way first?
Felipe Pérez, former Venezuelan minister
Critics say Mr Maduro maintains control by arresting opponents, muzzling the media, giving power to the military and sidelining the opposition-controlled Congress thanks to the government-controlled Supreme Court which has vetoed every law passed by parliament this year. Mr Maduro accuses the opposition of seeking a coup with US help.
“Meaningful dialogue must … recognise the government’s responsibility in creating [the crisis],” Human Rights Watch warned in a letter to Pope Francis. “Otherwise it will only serve as yet another excuse for Venezuelan authorities … For any dialogue to succeed, it must tackle head-on the Venezuelan government’s authoritarian practices.”
Polls show 90 per cent of Venezuelans believe the country is going in the wrong direction while three-quarters want to see Mr Maduro leave office this year. Yet analysts said there was little likelihood of meaningful discussion.
“The government does not want to dialogue, but doing so buys it time,” said Michael Penfold, professor of political science at Caracas’s IESA business school. “The opposition meanwhile wants to negotiate but not dialogue in order to obtain the concessions it seeks.” These include freeing political prisoners and reinstating the referendum.

A bond swap has won breathing space but risks a longer-term headache
Congress on Tuesday will debate a motion to censure Mr Maduro for political dereliction for suspending the referendum. But it is a largely symbolic vote as the constitution does not allow Congress to impeach the president, unlike in Brazil where former president Dilma Rousseff was impeached in August.
Vice-president Aristóbulo Isturiz last week called the motion a “vulgar coup” and said government supporters would march on Congress to “strip the opposition of the luxury of violating the Constitution.”
A key factor during this potentially bloody week will be if the army fires on crowds should the protests spiral out of control. Another will be the degree to which the opposition, typically dominated by the middle classes, is joined by poorer Venezuelans from the government’s core support base.
“In past marches, the poor and the better off usually have different expectations,” said Roberto Patiño of Caracas Coexists, a charity. “The richer hope ‘something’ will happen; the poor, which have more to lose, that ‘nothing’ does.”
“Venezuela has reached a new juncture,” added Mr Penfold. “Uncertain, volatile, and risky … What is clear is that the country will not be the same as it was.”

Clarice lays it out for all to understand

The Clintons: Making Politics Sexy Again

Clarice Feldman
You have to hand it to the Clintons. They bring sex into politics over and again -- and not in the lame fake way people like Gloria Allred bring up accusers against Republican candidates, but instead with real evidence that cannot be dismissed so easily. The press has looked the other way through countless administration and Hillary scandals, downplaying if even reporting such things as her breaches of national security, the pay-to-play Clinton foundation slush fund, Hillary’s malfeasance and lies about the Benghazi slaughter, her close connection to the political thugs and election hijackers, the thousands of Wikileaks establishing the gangster nature of her operation. Throw in a little sex though and the mainstream media briefly halts emailing mash notes to Hillary and files the story.
Oddly enough, the latest scandal sounds awfully like the beginning of the Monica Lewinsky scandal, Bill’s tale where he lied and said he “did not have sex with that woman”. Even bombing an aspirin factory couldn’t kill that story.
This time, Anthony Weiner, former Congressman, failed mayoral candidate, and husband without portfolio of Hillary’s closest, round-the-clock aide, Huma Abedin, insisted that the claim that he sexted a minor was a hoax. The capable and incorruptible U.S Attorney Preet Bahara looked into the claim, along with FBI and New York Police Department officers. In the course of their investigation it appears that they found on the computer Weiner shared with his estranged wife some email material the existence of which they’d previously been unaware. This induced FBI chief James Comey to make the astonishing announcement, eleven days before the election, that he was compelled to reopen the investigation into Hillary’s handling of classified materials on a private server because of newly discovered evidence.
The announcement came amid a series of revelations -- some clearly from inside-the-department leaks -- which established how poorly handled the initial investigation was.
The whole thing was so shoddy. As Holman Jenkins at the Wall Street Journal reminds us:
The reality is that Mr. Coney’s Clinton probe has been a kid-glove exercise all along. Only days before he prematurely ended the investigation and proclaimed that “no reasonable prosecutor would bring such a case” -- a decision for the Justice Department, not the FBI -- Bill Clinton met with Attorney General Loretta Lynch on a Phoenix airport tarmac.
When the FBI later released its investigation summary and interview notes on the Friday before Labor Day weekend, they showed Mrs. Clinton telling agents that she “could not recall” or “did not remember specifically” key details and events 27 times. The interview wasn’t taped, and Mrs. Clinton wasn’t put under oath, though it is a crime to lie to the FBI.
Recent revelations include the immunity deals extended to Clinton aides Cheryl Mills and Heather Samuelson to get them to surrender their laptops. The FBI could have sought a subpoena or search warrant to do as much, but Justice didn’t empanel a grand jury. Ms. Mills and Ms. Samuelson were allowed to serve as lawyers for Mrs. Clinton at her FBI interview, despite being material witnesses. Their deals specified that the laptops would be destroyed, meaning they can’t now be re-searched and cross-checked against Mr. Comey’s new information.
This week we learned that Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe steered more than $675,000 to the political campaign of the wife of FBI deputy director Andrew McCabe, who oversaw the Clinton investigation in the FBI’s Washington D.C. field office. Mr. McAuliffe is a longtime Clinton friend who is under FBI investigation himself over campaign finances.
As is his wont, Iowahawk describes the initial FBI investigation in far fewer words:
“FBI: what does this email mean?
Clintonite: I want immunity
FBI: you got it. What does --
Clintonite: I plead the 5th
FBI: OK you're free 2 go”
The real danger to Hillary is probably not the immediate pre-election legal consequences of the inquiry. Doubtless we will in time find further evidence of what we already know: she and her aides carelessly handled and transmitted classified information (some of it exceedingly sensitive and to be protected) in completely careless ways in violation of the law.
Ed Rollins, who served on the ill-fated and scandal-tainted Teneo Corporation at the same time as Huma (wearing one of her many hats simultaneously) surmised in a TV interview that she had such information as well as the Teneo material on her home computer and probably assumed that when Teneo scrubbed old emails  it covered the Clinton private emails as well.
Whatever the reason, something is there. Carl Bernstein says it must be really big:
“We don't know what this means yet except that it's a real bombshell. And it is unthinkable that the Director of the FBI would take this action lightly, that he would put this letter forth to the Congress of the United States saying there is more information out there about classified e-mails and call it to the attention of congress unless it was something requiring serious investigation. So that's where we are...”
Hillary’s minions and spinners were temporarily thrown off guard. She was on a flight to Iowa when the announcement was made, a flight reportedly with no wi-fi so that she didn’t know until the plane landed what had happened, Back home dozens of her staff must have worked frantically to prepare remarks for her after her scheduled rally appearance. They vet almost every of her public utterances. (At the rally, a giant fly perched on her forehead. This is the second time that has happened he recent weeks. Her rallies may be ill attended but I don’t want to hear ever again anyone saying she could not draw flies.)
In the video of her very brief conference you can see her continue her pattern of lying, projecting in a way that’s almost satirical.
She tars Comey by suggesting only Republican Congressmen received the Comey letter in which he stated his reasons for reopening the investigation, Actually all the committee chairs (Republicans) got it as did all the ranking members (Democrats). Then she demanded that Comey release all the emails he found immediately, prompting two more priceless Iowahawk tweets:
“I gotta say this "the FBI needs to answer these questions!" gambit has to be the Clintoniest thing ever.”
"I am not going to sit here while you badmouth the United States of America! Gentlemen!"
The truth is Huma was on the plane with Hillary -- all she had to do is (a) ask her what was in that material on her home computer and (b) tell her to release it publicly -- she doesn’t need the FBI to do it.
Powerline agrees:
This evening in Iowa, Hillary Clinton made a brief statement to the press about the FBI’s decision to reopen its criminal investigation into her email scandal. She even deigned to take three questions.
The best question, as is almost always the case, was a simple factual one: Have you spoken to Huma Abedin about this development? Clinton did not answer. Instead, she said she doesn’t know any more than anyone else about the matter.
Like virtually every utterance Clinton makes, this statement is false. Abedin reportedly is traveling with Clinton. Regardless of whether she is, there can be no doubt that as soon as Team Clinton got the news about the investigation [snip]she asked her closest aide what might be of interest to the FBI on her device and those of her husband. [snip]From Abedin, Clinton must have learned more than the rest of us know about what has piqued the FBI’s interest. Her claim to be totally in the dark surely is a lie.
During the press conference, Clinton called on Director Comey to tell the public what the newly recovered emails say. She insists that the public, which has already started voting, has the right to know.
Comey isn’t in a position to discuss the emails at the outset of his expanded investigation, but Hillary Clinton is.
In the interest of the public’s right to know, Clinton could describe for us, to the best of her understanding, the nature of the emails Abedin sent and received on the devices in question. Alternatively, she could have Abedin do it. Whether anyone would believe Clinton or Abedin is another matter.
During the press conference, Clinton also complained that the FBI acted so close to the election. Naturally, the timing has Clinton seething, but she has no valid complaint about. The timing, I assume, is a function of when the FBI obtained Abedin’s device. If Abedin turned it over sooner, the FBI presumably would have acted sooner.
There’s lots of speculation about what prompted the dramatic turn of events. I’ve never thought much of Comey myself. When he as acting attorney general I thought his refusal at the eleventh hour to reauthorize the NSA  surveillance program was a preposterous drama queen act. Seven years later when Comey was nominated for the post of FBI head, the Wall Street Journalnoted the effusive Democrat outpourings of support for the nomination of this Republican, suggesting the praise was unwarranted if one scrutinized his record -- and then proceeded to make its  very solid case.
Doubtless, Hillary now wishes her party had heeded this warning.
A terminally blinkered Jennifer Rubin  thinks the reopening is a plus for Hillary: “‏@JRubinBlogger
The Weiner thing is actually helpful for HRC, turning this all into farce and a punchline.”
Everyone else, including her campaign operatives, acknowledge it’s a disaster for her.
Another source the Democrats might have paid more attention to was Donald J. Trump, who as early as August of 2015 wrote on twitter. “It came out that Huma Abedin knows all about Hillary’s private illegal emails. Huma’s PR husband, Anthony Weiner, will tell the world.”
My best estimate of the rationale behind this breathtaking decision is that besides the reported furor in the FBI ranks about his earlier decision to give Hillary a pass; leaks and the released FBI report which underscored the unserious, corrupted nature of the initial investigation, the presence of Preet Bharara, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, and the NYPD meant that the Washington FBI and Attorney General Loretta Lynch no longer had a monopoly on how to conduct the investigation and were unable to lock up from scrutiny what criminality was found.
Others have advanced plausible theories. Thomas Lipscomb asks, “Andrew McCarthy, Judge Napolitano and others have posited that once it became clear that Obama had lied and was totally implicated in the Hillary e-mail scandal, Comey was not allowed to go forward with an indictment.WHAT IF The Weiner-Huma-Hillary evidentiary route has no such problem?”
And Jerome Corsi questions why Hillary Clinton sent marked classified information to a nonsecure Abedin account. Huma Abedin sent tens of thousands of emails to her home unsecured home account and, hints there might have been espionage.
Jerome Corsi ‏@jerome_corsi
Hillary aide HUMA ABEDIN emailed to herself at humamabedin@yahoo.com CLASSIFIED State Dept DOCS unsecured http://www.wnd.com/…/hillary-sent-marked-classified-info-t…/ … ESPIONAGE?”
In the meantime, the networks were forced to cover the story, headlines writers are having a field day “Dickileaks,” “Stroking Gun,” and bloggers are displaying their creativity.

Saul Alinsky's
Rules for Radicals

(or understanding current Democratic tactics)

Rule 1: Power is not only what you have, but what the enemy thinks you have

Rule 2: Never go outside the experience of your people.

Rule 3: Whenever possible, go outside the experience of the enemy.

Rule 4: Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules.

Rule 5: Ridicule is man's most potent weapon

Rule 6: A good tactic is one your people enjoy.

Rule 7: A tactic that drags on for too long becomes a drag.

Rule 8: Use different tactics and actions and use all events of the period.

Rule 9: The threat is more terrifying than the thing itself.

Rule 10: Maintain a constant pressure upon the opposition.

Rule 11: If you push a negative hard and deep enough, it will break through into its counterside.

Rule 12: The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative.

Rule 13: Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, polarize it.

Communist Manifesto 10 Planks

10 Conditions For Transition To Communism

  1. Abolition of property in land and application of all rents of land to public purposes.
  2. A heavy progressive or graduated income tax.
  3. Abolition of all right of inheritance.
  4. Confiscation of the property of all emigrants and rebels.
  5. Centralisation of credit in the hands of the State, by means of a national bank with State capital and an exclusive monopoly.
  6. Centralisation of the means of communication and transport in the hands of the State.
  7. Extension of factories and instruments of production owned by the State; the bringing into cultivation of waste-lands, and the improvement of the soil generally in accordance with a common plan.
  8. Equal liability of all to labour. Establishment of industrial armies, especially for agriculture.
  9. Combination of agriculture with manufacturing industries; gradual abolition of the distinction between town and country, by a more equitable distribution of the population over the country.
  10. Free education for all children in public schools. Abolition of children's factory labour in its present form. Combination of education with industrial production.

Keep these in mind as you contemplate the direction of the American government over the past 50 years and especially since the Obama election.

The Goals of Communism

(as read into the congressional record January 10, 1963, from "The Naked Communist" by Cleon Skousen)

1. U.S. acceptance of coexistence as the only alternative to atomic war.

2. U.S. willingness to capitulate in preference to engaging in atomic war.

3. Develop the illusion that total disarmament of the United States would be a demonstration of moral strength.

4. Permit free trade between all nations regardless of Communist affiliation and regardless of whether or not items could be used for war.

5. Extension of long-term loans to Russia and Soviet satellites.

6. Provide American aid to all nations regardless of Communist domination.

7. Grant recognition of Red China. Admission of Red China to the U.N.

8. Set up East and West Germany as separate states in spite of Khrushchev's promise in 1955 to settle the German question by free elections under supervision of the U.N.

9. Prolong the conferences to ban atomic tests because the United States has agreed to suspend tests as long as negotiations are in progress.

10. Allow all Soviet satellites individual representation in the U.N.

11. Promote the U.N. as the only hope for mankind. If its charter is rewritten, demand that it be set up as a one-world government with its own independent armed forces. (Some Communist leaders believe the world can be taken over as easily by the U.N. as by Moscow. Sometimes these two centers compete with each other as they are now doing in the Congo.)

12. Resist any attempt to outlaw the Communist Party.

13. Do away with all loyalty oaths.

14. Continue giving Russia access to the U.S. Patent Office.

15. Capture one or both of the political parties in the United States.

16. Use technical decisions of the courts to weaken basic American institutions by claiming their activities violate civil rights.

17. Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for socialism and current Communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of teachers' associations. Put the party line in textbooks.

18. Gain control of all student newspapers.

19. Use student riots to foment public protests against programs or organizations which are under Communist attack.

20. Infiltrate the press. Get control of book-review assignments, editorial writing, policymaking positions.

21. Gain control of key positions in radio, TV, and motion pictures.

22. Continue discrediting American culture by degrading all forms of artistic expression. An American Communist cell was told to "eliminate all good sculpture from parks and buildings, substitute shapeless, awkward and meaningless forms."

23. Control art critics and directors of art museums. "Our plan is to promote ugliness, repulsive, meaningless art."

24. Eliminate all laws governing obscenity by calling them "censorship" and a violation of free speech and free press.

25. Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio, and TV.

26. Present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as "normal, natural, healthy."

27. Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with "social" religion. Discredit the Bible and emphasize the need for intellectual maturity which does not need a "religious crutch."

28. Eliminate prayer or any phase of religious expression in the schools on the ground that it violates the principle of "separation of church and state."

29. Discredit the American Constitution by calling it inadequate, old-fashioned, out of step with modern needs, a hindrance to cooperation between nations on a worldwide basis.

30. Discredit the American Founding Fathers. Present them as selfish aristocrats who had no concern for the "common man."

31. Belittle all forms of American culture and discourage the teaching of American history on the ground that it was only a minor part of the "big picture." Give more emphasis to Russian history since the Communists took over.

32. Support any socialist movement to give centralized control over any part of the culture--education, social agencies, welfare programs, mental health clinics, etc.

33. Eliminate all laws or procedures which interfere with the operation of the Communist apparatus.

34. Eliminate the House Committee on Un-American Activities.

35. Discredit and eventually dismantle the FBI.

36. Infiltrate and gain control of more unions.

37. Infiltrate and gain control of big business.

38. Transfer some of the powers of arrest from the police to social agencies. Treat all behavioral problems as psychiatric disorders which no one but psychiatrists can understand.

39. Dominate the psychiatric profession and use mental health laws as a means of gaining coercive control over those who oppose Communist goals.

40. Discredit the family as an institution. Encourage promiscuity and easy divorce.

41. Emphasize the need to raise children away from the negative influence of parents. Attribute prejudices, mental blocks and retarding of children to suppressive influence of parents.

42. Create the impression that violence and insurrection are legitimate aspects of the American tradition; that students and special-interest groups should rise up and use united force to solve economic, political or social problems.

43. Overthrow all colonial governments before native populations are ready for self-government.

44. Internationalize the Panama Canal.

45. Repeal the Connally reservation so the United States cannot prevent the World Court from seizing jurisdiction over nations and individuals alike.
