Underwear-clad intruder breaks into a Texas pastor’s home. The intruder ends up dead.
Pastor Lorenzo Martinez and his family, residents of Cypress, Texas, were subjects of a home invasion by a man wearing only his underwear. After a violent scuffle, the intruder was shot dead at the scene of the crime.
KTRK reported that the man allegedly broke into the Martinez home on Thursday morning, and after attacking members of the Martinez family, was shot and killed.
“The door is kicked in and that’s how the family wakes up to discover the intruder in the residence,” Sgt. Felipe Rivera of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office told the network in a statement. “He wasn’t running from anybody. He was attacking. In my opinion, he was in an attacking mode.”
Martinez’s daughter, Naarai Olvera, told the network that she wasn’t there to witness the break-in, but her brother, sister, brother-in-law and their children were in the home during the incident.
“He just started hitting my dad, then he hit my mom,” Olvera said. “Then my brother woke up and my brother started hitting him.”
Olvera claimed that the intruder punched her mother in the face “several times” and broke her nose, and after attacking Mrs. Martinez, threw a large flat-screen television at her brother.
After the attack on Olvera’s mother and brother, the intruder reportedly moved onto Olvera’s sister, brother-in-law and three young children. She reported that the intruder broke down the bedroom door in which the rest of the family was hidden.
When the intruder gained entry to the bedroom, Olvera’s brother-in-law shot and killed the intruder. The man — who investigators believed to be on drugs — died on the scene.
“We are a Christian family,” Olvera said. “We don’t believe in killing anybody. But we had to do what we had to do to protect our family and protect our little kids.”
The intruder has not yet been identified, and the Martinez family claims that they did not know the man.
